"So how long are you guys going to spy on me for? Is my 'brother' really that worried?" I said at lunch time and after the twins had soaked up all the attention like little, delicate Christmas hams. I didn't like the food and they didn't need the food, so we headed outside and sat under a huge oak tree. Small purple flowers and dandelions were sprouting and the grass looked a little overgrown. It was in fact my favorite place to hide away when people wanted to talk to me or try to flirt; girls seemed to think if was funny to taunt me with their bodies then deny me when I wanted them in return.
"Well, I don't think that it's spying. Not really." Silias smiled at Silver; they were keeping something secret.
"What? Come on tell me!" I said in a high tone as I pouted about being left out of the sewing circle of nicely woven secrets. Just as I was about to protest some more and try to maneuver a secret out: two girls came up-giggling, that is-to stand in front of us.
"Hi." One of them was a slender blonde with long legs and a skirt that was just a bit too little for the school policy, and the other was a redhead that had more of a curvy body; most likely the red would have been my choice of girl if the silver headed man had never popped into my life.
"Hi." Silver winked and threw in a charming smile as he once again hammed up the attention. I watched as both girls made little piles of melted human at our feet, they're red cheeks made it way too obvious that they wanted a little piece of the twins. I shook my head; and like little pre-schoolers, they giggled some more and walked away. It wasn't flattering in my eyes, it was annoying how they flocked over to the twins like they were………well, supermodels. Then again if they tried they probably could be…..
"Seriously, tell me why he wants you to spy on me. I mean: I'm faithful….or whatever." Immediately I blushed remembering my encounter with Zephyr. I remembered the feeling of his hands wrapped in my hair, I smiled just a bit but quickly erased it from my face. The electricity that flowed between us in that moment made me shiver a little. I felt guilty. I love someone completely different. I tried to keep that flowing through my head, but Zephyr's face kept slipping into my stream of thoughts.
"Like Silias said, Tyler, it's not really spying." Silver smiled wide as I squinted my eyes. He was really making me angry, then again with a face like his I just ended up smiling with him.
The bell rang, thank god! I thought.
"Well, whatever. So, do you two have all the same classes as me or do I get this one alone?" I said looking rather skeptical that I would get to enjoy a class alone.
"Actually, to your surprise, yes. You get this one alone. It's your art appreciation class right?" I nodded and he added, "Well, I'm sure that you're not going to appreciate it then." They laughed in perfect harmony and walked away too fast for any human to possibly follow. I groaned. Who was in there then? Immediately I became self-conscious. What if it's Zephyr? I thought as I pulled myself up from the ground, grabbed my backpack, and headed to my next class. No one knows right? Did he tell? Is he the reason why they're here? Damn it, I'm so confused! He better not have told, I don't need this kind of pressure. And I really don't need Azazel find out about this and kill me or something. Would he kill me? Would he have it in him? Ugh! I stopped at the door of my classroom for a moment before entering. I wasn't the first one in there, or the last. There were a just a few kids that I really didn't talk too much. It looked like it normally did before Mrs. Sevins walked in; but today, she didn't. When the late bell rang and she still didn't come, the class became active and too talkative for me. It was like a zoo with too many chattering monkeys. I sighed and pulled out my sketch pad out of my backpack and began to draw. I wasn't really paying attention to what was going on, I was busy in my own world. I was drawing my beloved Azazel, but I was drawing him of what I remembered in the past. It was hard rather, because in a way he was so much….older looking; even though his face really hadn't aged a day, his eyes shown with wisdom unlike in the past when they would shine with interest, love, curiosity, and wonder.
"I realize that having a substitute teacher is exciting and usually fun, but I don't really like rowdy people." My head snapped up and my ears were on fire the moment I heard the voice. I wasn't really sure if I was embarrassed or angry, but in the doorway stood Azazel all suited up and with his hair cut to his head and dyed to a rich brown. The cut made his cheekbones more pronounced and seemed to fall over his face in a mysterious and sexy way. I didn't like it at all, I loved his long, naturally silver hair; but if it was necessary so that he could intrude my school and he himself spy on me……I still didn't like it. The people had all stopped the commotion and had taken their seats even without the Azazel telling them too. He glanced in my direction, but there was an undeniable smile on his face that was meant for me to see. I realized that it was anger and not embarrassment; I was pissed. Intrusion?! AND A RIDICULOUS HAIRCUT?! IF I WAS STILL STRONGER THAN HIM, I'D-I'D…..I was at a loss even in my thoughts.
"Alright class, I'm Mrs. Sevins substitute. She has, remarkably, come up missing. Don't fret though children, I'm sure she'll be found soon." He smiled. I wasn't so sure what that meant, and I wasn't too willing to find out, but I was sure that it meant: as long as I was in school, she wasn't going to be.
"Who cares?" A girl behind me somewhere whispered. I knew that Azazel picked it up but he didn't say anything or smile, he just sat down at Mrs. Sevins desk and stared at the class.
"Alright class. We're going to finish Mrs. Sevins' last assignment given." He pulled out a sheet of paper and crinkled his nose. "Alright, I lied. I don't have any interest in this subject. Hmm." He leaned back in the chair for a moment before continuing. "How about we do some macabre? Everyone loves macabre right?" Some people agreed, mostly girls I think, though I wasn't sure if they even knew what macabre meant.
"No, I hate macabre." I said it rather boldly, but I found myself stuttering just a bit when his eyes turned to me and the class was silent.
"Well, I'm sorry but-" Azazel counted the heads in class, "Twenty-four people definitely out vote one person." He smiled. I was up for the game now.
"Okay, whatever. What did you say your name was?" I smiled, but he didn't falter.
"Mr. White; but Cort will do just fine." My mouth dropped. He was using my name…or well Cort's name.
"Cort?" Someone asked.
"Yes, my parents were eccentrics." He replied with a smile that made a few people gasp or groan. I was sure even the boys were lusting. I wasn't, I was still angry that he had infiltrated my school and was impersonating a teacher, not to mention that he sent the twins to team up and keep an eye on me too. Though, all his years of living he would probably do well as a history teacher, not an art teacher. When I thought about it...Where is Mrs. Sevins? Suddenly I felt numb all over. Maybe he…Killed her? I tried to banish the thought from my mind but it was still swimming around in my head.
"Hmm, what material should we use?" He got a great amount of replies and some were just uncalled for; like the 'your body' comment was a bit over the top, but I still smiled. "Okay, I heard quite a few very good suggestions; so instead of working in one material as a whole, let's use separate materials." I shook my head and tried to continue my sketch. He was in the room now so it was a bit easier to draw him; only he didn't stand still because now the class was in motion and he was all over the room approving ideas.
I was beginning to draw his lips when he had suddenly popped up beside me. I jumped when I saw him standing so close.
"Very nice." I could tell that he was being prideful. I pushed him but just slightly and not enough to be too noticeable in case we were being watched.
"Thank you, but can't you see I'm working here?" I smiled when I saw that he was just a little taken aback, but he stayed like that for hardly a fraction of a second. He crossed his arms and gave me an authority-like squint. I continued to smile at him with challenge in my eyes.
"Well, that is a lovely idea, Tyler." I was confused. "Presenting the projects at the front of the class on Friday. Now why didn't I think of that. Bravo." He smiled as the class groaned and walked over to yet another girl with her hand raised.
I blushed when someone hit me with a paper wad and noticed that now my name was being used in sentences that weren't too pleasing to hear. I tried to continue but it just wasn't working. I couldn't look at Azazel when he was making me angry and making me look bad in front of one of the classes that I was ignored in. I liked being ignored because it was pleasant not having people start drama with me.
I left my sketch pad on my desk and went to get the bigger one that I had left in the room; and began a different drawing. I really didn't want to draw him now that he had made me a leper to the class and because it was just a bit embarrassing for me to be fantasizing about him while he was near me in front of my peers. I began on the shape of a face. I made the hair framed the cheeks and left it open for a color filling of some sort. I left the face open for eyes to be drawn in, but went ahead and drew lips and a nose. I smiled because the person was looking just a bit like Azazel. I wanted to start on the body but something about the eyeless face was a bit scary so I began on the eyes. I wasn't finished when Azazel came over to me and frowned.
"Why are you drawing him?" He whispered; I gave him a confused look. To me it looked like Azazel did, only the eyes weren't finished.
"What?" I whispered back. "It's you, but with short hair; because you chopped it all off." He just frowned and, without another word, he walked over to a boy with a big smile and a hand in the air. I watched as he charmed the kid, who I also had in English class, into blushing and flirting with Azazel. I scowled just a bit and it came to mind that if the students were like this, then the teachers who got to see him a little less; must hit on him as well.
I tried to shake the thoughts from my head. I looked back down and tried to look at the picture from another angle. It only revealed Azazel to me, but perhaps he was seeing the part where the jaw line was a tid bit sharper than his and the hair wasn't quite exactly like his, but the eye shape was definitely his own. I continued.
"Hey Tyler!" I smelled the bubble gum before I could analyze who had just appeared next to me in an instant. I jumped a little and nearly made an unwanted mark on my piece of paper. I scowled for a second the looked next to me, it was Elizabeth. Her gum snapping had improved since our last encounter and her pig-tails had been removed and replaced with teased hair. She's a trend-setter. Either way, I was glad that I partially knew someone in this class. I hadn't noticed her there before.
"Oh, hey Elizabeth." She smiled, showing her perfect white teeth. Wow, Orbit does work. I thought to myself, pretty please with my inside comment.
"So, is he hot or what?!" She giggled a little and looked down at my drawing. "WOW, Tyler! I didn't know you could draw like that! Amazing! I'm more of the pastels and oils type of gal." Another giggle. "So, I was wondering if you, oh I don't know, wanted to hang out sometime?" She put her words so close together all I did was raise an eyebrow before it hit me: a girl just asked me out. I blushed a little and glanced in Azazel's way. I could see a tiny fluster to his cheeks. He heard her.
"Oh well, see, my aunt Ev. she's really sick right now-" It hit me, it's also summer time, "Well you know with allergies and what not, and she wants me to stay around the house to take well care of the place. It's too big for her to manage even a day on her own and we don't believe in a lot of hired help." Elizabeth just nodded her head with wide eyes. I could've told her there was a meteor directly above my head and if I took one step out of line it would hit me smack in the face and she probably would've believed me.
"That's so sweet! I mean, unfortunate! Maybe I'll pop in sometime, I knew how to make an allergy killin' soup!" She giggled. Do all girls do this when they find someone that they like? "I'll see you later Tyler! I have to get back to my macabre. I'm doing a vampire killing scene." She made a type of snarling face which reminded me of a poor Zephyr impression. I laughed which obviously pleased her. I still had a smile when who but Azazel walked over and leaned down so that his lips were right about my ear. I felt his breath and his tongue run across the tip of my ear. I turned red, and my body turned hot. I looked up at him. He smiled and walked away. He's such a bitch! Mean! That's all he is! He's mean! Making me this way! Grrh! I thought as the blush only deepened and my thoughts took a turn for the worst. I looked around the lively room. No one seemed to have noticed. I got up from my seat with my giant sketch pad and scampered over to a corner of the room that was unoccupied and quiet to continue with what I had started.

"So! How was school lovey dearest?" Silver wrapped an arm around me. I blushed. His touch was so gentle, his voice so sweet, and everything seemed to be turning me on since Azazel had attacked me after class. I remembered feeling his body press hard into my as he had spread my legs and pushed me up on the desk. His hot breath and my neck and his fierce kisses planted all over my body. I shrugged.
"It was fine……….I guess." Silias laughed and nudged Silver. They already knew about our little classroom scene, I sighed; it was definitely time for a nap.
